The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Nassarawa State, Labaran Maku, has called on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, to remove the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state,Alhaji Umaru Danyaya.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, called on Jega to remove the REC.

The APGA governorship candidate accused Danyaya of allegedly working for the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and called for his redeployment before Saturday’s polls.

PDP had earlier accused Danyaya of running INEC in the state through proxies because, according to the party, Danyaya is not healthy enough.

Speaking on the issue yesterday at a press conference in Lafia, the Director General of APGA’s campaign organization, Musa Saidu said the REC planned to rig the gubernatorial elections through his personal aide who was now overseeing the affairs of INEC because of his ill health.

According to Saidu, the plans to rig the election were hatched with the collaboration of some INEC officials in the state.

He stated that some returning officers had already been bribed to aid its plan to rig the elections in the state, adding that the election supervisors had been detailed to delay the release of election material in APGA dominated local governments such as Obi, Doma, Nasarawa Eggon, Kokona, Karu and other wards where the APC was not sure of winning even as the commission planned to announce Governor Umaru Al-makura as the winner before the end of the collation.
