Maku gives PDP 7-day ultimatum to correct irregularities in Nasarawa primary

Immediate past minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has handed a seven-day ultimatum to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to correct irregularities recorded in the party’s governorship primary in the state.

Maku, who gave the warning on Saturday while addressing youths in Wakama Village of Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, disclosed that he had already written a petition to the appeal panel set up by the national headquarters of the party challenging the outcome of the primary.

He identified the anomalies which occurred during the primary to include short-changing of delegates names in many LGAs, intimidation and threatening of delegates, stressing that the fraud committed in the recent PDP governorship primaries was worse than the one perpetrated at party’s primary election in the state in 2007.

Threatening to seek for peoples mandate directly if steps were not taken to correct his grouse within the next one week, he said, “Since they think they can short-change the names of delegates and intimidate them, we will see how they can short-change and intimidate the members of the public”.

Maku vowed to proceed with his ambition to contest the governorship seat of the Nasarawa in 2015 and advised all those working to deny the State of good leaders to have a rethink.

The former government spokesman promised that if elected as governor in 2015, he would restore peace to the state within six months and reposition the state for total transformation.

He, however, called on all his supporters to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 for consolidation of development of the country, noting that Jonathan was one of the best presidents the country had ever produced when all parameters of developments are considered.

Maku further enjoined his supporters to remain calm and law abiding, assuring that he would publicly make his decisions known after the next seven days
