The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has scheduled the national convention to elect its new officers that would take over from the Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Party for Thursday, August 17, 2016.

Addressing newsmen at the end of an expanded caucus meeting of the party with members of the caretaker committee in Abuja, chairman of the committee, Senator Makarfi stated that the day’s meeting discussed the programmes leading to new convention, which had been fixed to hold on the 17th of next month, still in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital.

The former Kaduna governor stated that the party was still open to accepting all those who were with the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction.

The expanded caucus is made up of the state governors, members of the Board of trustees of the party, the party’s principal officers in the National Assembly and other stakeholders.
