The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has restated his determination to strengthen the fight against corruption.
He spoke at an interactive session with civil society organisations at the EFCC zonal office in Kano on Friday.
It was his first reaction after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Thursday, declared that the police officer would remain as EFCC boss under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Magu stressed that the war against corruption was a continuous exercise which must be won. Magu said, “There is no way corruption will continue in this country. We have president and the vice-president that are serious on war against corruption.
”This is the only period in the history of Nigeria to have government that is serious against corruption.
“Corruption has also caused deterioration in the quality of infrastructure, healthcare delivery and education among others. So it is our duty to ensure we fight the scourge.
“The looters are just a few who are not up to 10,000 in the society compared to the population of the country of over 100 million people.
”We will make sure we save the country from the scourge of corruption.”
Meanwhile, Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Affairs, Sabi Abdullahi, says Senate’s rejection of Magu’s nomination as EFCC Chairman stands.
