Lyon pull out of Adebayor deal

Lyon have confirmed they will not sign Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 32-year-old who is a free agent, was expected to put pen to paper for the Ligue 1 team, after coach Bruno Genesio hinted a deal could be imminent.

However, they have decided against taking the former Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid, because he is considering playing at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

“Olympique Lyonnais has decided not to pursue the discussions initiated with Emmanuel Adebayor who, since the beginning of the week, had delayed his trip to Lyon before coming yesterday to OL Park where Bruno Genesio was able to speak with him,” Lyon said in a statement.

Lyon are looking to bolster their attacking options, after Alexandre Lacazette’s injury.
