Luis Enrique admits Barcelona deserved to lose against Malaga

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, has said that they did not deserve to win against Malaga on Saturday.

Juanmi latched onto a poor back pass from Dani Alves, to score the only goal of the game, as the visitors dented the Catalans’ title hopes.

The loss brought Barca’s 11-match winning streak to an end and saw this miss the opportunity to go above Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.

“It’s a result that hurts,” Enrique said. “Malaga played very well and I wish it was an accident, but I have to say we were beaten and maybe it was deserved.

“In the first half I thought we played well but Malaga took advantage of the one mistake that we made. Mistakes are mistakes; it wasn’t our best day individually or collectively.

“We attacked too much in the centre of the pitch. We weren’t effective in the final third and that was our biggest problem.”

Barcelona travel to Manchester City next, for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash.
