Benue State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Esther Anthamenwa, has announced that a total of 2,124 corps members on Friday successfully passed out from service in the state on Friday.

The passing out parade was held amid tight security, without the usual pomp and pageantry.

Anthamenwa stated this during the passing out ceremony of 2015 Batch ‘B’ Stream ll.

The low-key celebration may not be unconnected with the current security challenges and economic recession facing the country.

Speaking with newsmen in Makurdi, Anthamenwa said the management of the scheme decided that the yearly ceremony should be done in low key due to the current security and economic challenges facing the country.

According to her, “It was a decision made to ensure that all corps members remain safe because security of corps members remain paramount to us.”

She said, “a total of 2,200 corps members are expected to pass out of the service year in the 2015 Batch B Stream ll, but now 2,124 is passing out, while 32 corps members have their service year extended.”

She commended the Benue State government for its support and also for the approval given for the completion of the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Wannune.
