The League Management Company (LMC), has overturned the ban on Akure Township Stadium, home of Sunshine Stars.

Following their fans’ unruly behaviour in last season’s Week 36 game against Lobi Stars, the league body imposed the ban on the stadium.

Sunshine Stars subsequently played their home matches in Lagos, but are now free to return to their base.

“I’m pleased to inform you that Sunshine Stars have been cleared to play their NPFL home games at the Akure Township Stadium,” media officer Wahab Bankole confirmed to Goal.

“This is cheering for us as it will boost our confidence level going into the new season.

“We have learnt our lessons and will do all it takes to prevent a repeat of the occurrence that resulted to the initial LMC action.”

Sunshine welcome Akwa United in the first game of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NFPL) season on February 21.
