The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), has received a N10million lifeline from the League Management Company (LMC), to prosecute the second round of the matches of the season.
This was confirmed in press release from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The fund is to enable the NWFL pay indemnities of match officials, which was previously taken care of by the host teams.
“We are happy for this lifeline from the League Management Company. This gesture has come as part of the NFF’s promise to take the Women’s League, and the entire women football sector, to a new level,” Babagana Kalli, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee of the NWFL, told thenff.com.
“We want to commend the NFF and the LMC for this, and I can assure you that the second round of the season will commence this weekend, with all the teams that started the season.
“We have rescheduled all the matches that were not played for one reason or the other, and the rescheduled games will be played in midweek while the regular matches come up during the weekends.”
The Secretary of the NWFL, Ayo Abdulrahaman, has also revealed that the five divisions who lost their slots for failing to honour three matches in the current season, have been restored to the league.
They are Nasarawa Amazons, Tokas Queens, Capital City Doves,Cerezo Queens and State House Queens.
