Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk has admitted that Chelsea still have plenty of quality players despite the departure of Forward Eden Hazard from the club.
DAILY POST had reported that Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in June this year.
Van Dijk, who expects to face a different Chelsea in tonight’s UEFA Super Cup clash in Istanbul, noted that Hazard is a quality player and was important to Chelsea.
The Holland captain, however, said that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be prepared to tackle Frank Lampard’s men on Wednesday night.
Liverpool head to the game after defeating Norwich City 4-1 in the Premier League last weekend, while Chelsea were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United.
“Hazard is a quality player and he was important to Chelsea but I think they have plenty of quality players,” Van Dijk was quoted by Goal as telling reporters ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday.
“I think they play a little bit different than they did last year.
“We will analyse them and then we will be prepared.
“Nothing that happened last season will have any impact on what is going to happen. It is going to be a new game.
“They have a new situation at the club there but we want to do better than we did last year and we will see,” he said.
The kick-off time for the match is 8pm.
