Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has encouraged David Luiz to continue playing the long, direct balls he became well-known for during his time at Chelsea, the UK Telegraph reports.
The 32-year-old, who worked briefly with Emery at PSG, signed for the Gunners on deadline day.
During his second spell at Stamford Bridge, Luiz often played long balls to Pedro and created more ‘big chances’ than any other Premier League centre-back last season with 11.
Emery has now told the Brazilian to aim for Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when he receives the ball, so the Gabon international can catch the defences napping.
It remains to be seen whether this tactic will be used to bypass Liverpool’s ferocious press when they travel to Anfield in Saturday’s late kick-off.
Both Luiz and Aubameyang are expected to start the match with the latter looking to continue his scoring streak having scored twice in wins over Newcastle and Burnley.
