Liverpool are so determined to keep Philippe Coutinho at the club and are prepared to reject a £100m offer from Barcelona for the midfielder.
The La Liga giants had a £72m offer turned down over a fortnight ago and, now armed with £220m from the world-record transfer of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, are upping their interest in the 25-year-old.
Barcelona are willing to make Coutinho the second most expensive player in history, but the Reds are not bulging.
Liverpool’s stance is unchanged with manager Jurgen Klopp and the owners, Fenway Sports Group, adamant that the Brazilian will not be sold this summer.
That position has been relayed to Barca and is strengthened by the five-year contract Coutinho signed in January, which does not contain a release clause.
