Liverpool will face either Merseyside rivals Everton or Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final, after they defeated Stoke City on penalties in the second leg of their semi-final clash on Tuesday.

The Reds came into the game with a 1-0 lead, which was cancelled out by Marko Arnautovic’s controversial goal at Anfield.

An aggregate score of 1-1, ensured the tie went all the way to penalties.

Peter Crouch and Emre Can missed to take it to sudden death, where Simon Mignolet denied Marc Muniesa and Joe Allen converted the winning penalty.

The other semi-final fixture between Everton and City, will be decided on Wednesday night. The Toffees hold a slender 2-1 advantage.
