Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, has revealed that the club’s hopes of signing Diego Costa appears to be over, after the player decided to sign a new deal with Atletico Madrid.

Reports earlier this month, suggested that the Anfield club had triggered the Brazilian’s £21.8 million buy-out clause, but rather than discuss terms with Liverpool, he decided to extend his stay at the Vicente Calderon.

“I believe Costa has signed an extension. There’s nothing in terms of players to add,” Rodgers is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“We’ve signed players early on and we hope to sign some more before the end of the window. In the meantime, there’s nothing at the minute.”
