Raheem Sterling is on his way out of Liverpool, after the club agreed a £49 million fee with Manchester City.
The England winger has threatened to go on strike and even claimed sick twice last week to avoid training, as he tried to force his way out of Anfield.
Although Sterling was included in the Reds’ pre-season tour squad, he was withdrawn as his transfer to City edged closer.
Liverpool have accepted City’s third bid – an initial payment of £44m and £5m in add-ons. Sterling’s former team, Queens Park Rangers, will receive 20% of the fee, because of a sell-on clause in the 20-year-old deal.
Sterling will now become the Etihad’s club record buy, eclipsing the £38m they paid for Sergio Aguero.
