Ligue 1 club, Lille, has provisionally suspended coach Marcelo Bielsa on Wednesday, following a string of poor results.
The French side said in a statement that Bielsa has been suspended “as part of a procedure started by the club.”
The Argentine tactician joined Lille this season, but has failed to make the club competitive again, with the team second from bottom after 13 rounds.
Upon taking over, he asked 10 players including club first-choice goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to stay away from the first team, a move that didn’t go down well with some highly placed individuals at the club.
Enyeama stayed at the club, but despite the team’s poor form that has seen them conceded more goals than any team in the Ligue 1 this season, the coach still kept the former Super Eagles captain out of his first team.
Lille also recruited more than a dozen new players, but the team failed to gel and has won just three of their league matches so far.
