Tragedy has struck in the agrarian community of Ifira Akoko in Akoko South East local government area of Ondo State following the killing of a middle aged man by lightning.
The man, who has been identified as Ramoni Aluko, a timber trader, was said to have been killed by the lightning while cutting an Iroko tree in the forest.
Confirming the incident the Divisional Police Officer, Isua Akoko, Biodun Ojediran stated that Aluko and his partner were in the farm when the incident occurred.
“Two of them went to a farm at Ifira Akoko when the incident happened and only Mr Aluko died,” he said.
It was gathered that after the incident, people of Ifira contacted the sango worshipers as it was a taboo to touch such corpse.
Controversy later occurred over where to bury the deceased.
It was disclosed that the victim is from Supare in Akoko South West local government as he only stayed at Ifira for his timber business.
Meanwhile, the Asiwaju of Ifira Akoko, Chief Boboye Ojomo described the late Aluko as a nice, hardworking gentleman that will be missed in the area.
