Former Super Eagles left back, Celestine Babayaro, has praised the performance of Paderborn defender, Jamilu Collins, in Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Libya on Saturday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Collins made his competitive debut for Nigeria and played the entire 90 minutes.
Babayaro, while speaking to OwnGoalNigeria, hailed the fullback as Gernot Rohr’s best discovery since he took over the national team.
“He (Collins) could be the best discovery of Rohr as coach of Nigeria. Handing him a start means Rohr is well aware of his abilities and he didn’t disappoint with the way he played. Considering the position has been a source of concern for a while his emergence is a source of joy.
“It’s just his first game but the confidence he showed is something else. I won’t say he is my replacement yet but he could be the long term solution to the left full back issues,” Babayaro said.
