Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski, has admitted losing some of his motivation, following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal in January.
Aubameyang, last season’s Bundesliga top scorer, left for the Emirates in a £56million deal.
The two forwards spent a year together at Dortmund, before Lewandowski joined Bayern in 2014.
Since then, they have been rivals for the highest goal scorer in Bundesliga.
Lewandowski bagged 30 goals in 2015/2016 to land the top scorer title, before Aubameyang notched a final day brace last season to take the title by a goal (31 to 30).
“For the last three years I’ve competed with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be the top scorer.
“Now that he’s gone, maybe a part of my motivation that came from our duel has also gone.
“Obviously, when you have that rivalry, you’re a bit more motivated,” Lewandowski said.
