Lekki Gardens’ MD, contractor arraigned in court for Lagos building collapse

The Lagos State Government on Friday arraigned the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong, and a contractor handling the collapsed story building before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court.

Nyong and the contractor were arraigned over their alleged roles in the Tuesday’s building collapse in Lekki area of the state.

DAILY POST recalls that a five-storey building which collapsed on Tuesday morning at the end of Kushenla road, Chisco bus stop, Ikate Elegushi-Lekki area of the state led to the death of 35 people.

In her verdict, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Afolashade Bokotu, ordered that Richard and Taiwo, who were brought to the court in handcuffs earlier on Friday, should be kept in police custody at the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba for the next 30 days, pending the conclusion of police investigation.
