Legislature, executive differences show Nigeria has come of age – Ita Enang

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang has explained that the discordant tune of the Senate with regards to some of executive communications showed that Nigeria democracy had come of age.

Speaking while addressing newly appointed ambassadors at his residence in Abuja, Enang noted that there will always be issues of “different understanding” when the Senate had to handle requests from the executive.

He emphasised that there was no frosty relationship between the executive and legislative as being portrayed, stressing that even in the United States of America, it was the same.

“Of recent, people tend to believe that the executive and legislature are at loggerheads; that is not at all. There is always differences in understanding and even in the United States of America, it happens.

“It shows that Nigeria has come of age and our democracy is working”, Enang added.

He charged the envoys to be of good ambassadors, stressing that there were policies of Buhari led administration which were yielding positive results.

Enang was emphatic that Nigeria was getting out of its economic recession, and that its currency was firming up on a daily basis.

“We want you to take this message to your station abroad that Nigeria was overcoming its challenges, particularly that we are overcoming challenges as our currency is regaining”, he maintained.
