The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on Wednesday, warned the Federal Government to stop further clamp down on its members.

DAILY POST recalls that in the last few days there has been massive arrest of MASSOB members and that of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who are being accused of inciting violence.

But the group in a statement, advised the government to channel its effort towards bringing peace in the Boko Haram ravaged north-east.

Addressing journalists in Enugu, the chairman of the group in Enugu West senatorial zone, Chief Edwin Iloagu said they were not a violent organization, stressing that they had always witnessed unprovoked attack from security agencies.

Chief Iloagu warned that if anything happened to their leader Chief Ralph Uwazulike, the country would not know peace. He called for the immediate release of their members arrested by the police.

The MASSOB leader wondered while unarmed and non-violent group, who were agitating for their freedom in peaceful means, according to the United Nations guidelines, would be oppressed for violating no known law in Nigeria.

He regretted that the same security agencies could not address the issue of Islamic terrorists (Boko Haram) who had killed thousands of innocent Nigerians.

According to him, “instead of President Buhari concerning himself on finding ways to address the fundamental issue that has continued to divide Nigeria and heals the wound of the civil war, he is now championing another war”.
