Leaked call: Police demand Wike’s call records from telecoms

The Police have requested details of Governor Nyesom Wike’s call logs from telecommunication firms, as they continue investigation into the leaked audio of a phone conversation the Governor allegedly had.

Wike is being accused of ordering officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to rig the Rivers rerun election.

According to The PUNCH, a senior police offer said the panel will look into Wike’s incoming and outgoing telephone calls, as well as SMS exchanges.

“Obtaining the CDR shouldn’t pose any difficulty to the investigators because the telecom firms have it on their exchange,” the source said.

“Forensic analysis of the audio tapes would be matched with the call logs, which will also assist in identifying the voice prints of the suspects”, he added.

The Inspector-General had constituted a panel to investigate the audio and submit its report within 30 days.
