Members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Osun, on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over an order by the Federal High Court in Osogbo, that restricted the government in Osun from implementing a new filing regime in the State.
Addressing a press conference at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Osogbo, the Chairman of the Forum of NBA chairmen in the State, Mr Marice Olufisayo Okediya, said the order, which was delivered by Justice Maureen Adaobi Onyetenu was in the best interest of the common man.
He stressed that with the order of the Federal High Court, the status quo ante would be maintained in all the courts around the state, pending the hearing of the substantive matter on March 16th, 2017.
DAILY POST recalls that lawyers in the state had deserted the courts since February 28,over the hike in the filing fees, making activities in the courts to be grounded.
However, Okediya assured that the lawyers would return to courts as soon as the order takes effect, saying the position of lawyers over the increment was in a bid to stand with the commoners and protect their interests.
