Lawmaker calls for investigation of contractors handling Sam Mbakwe International Airport

Member representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency, Hon. Bede Eke has called for investigation of contractors handling the cargo village of Sam Mbakwe International Airport.

He said this was for abandoning the project, which was awarded to them with huge Mobilisation to enable them do their job.

In a press statement which was made available to DAILY POST in Abuja and signed by his media adviser, Chima Okereafor, the statement identified the contractors to be Ms Ardc Limited, Mesh Construction Limited, Derri Investment Limited.

“Those contractors and their job specifics include Ms Aeschylus Lydia, which was given the job of construction of a cargo terminal, Mesh Construction Limited for the expansion of Apron, Derri Investment Lydian was given the job installation of Airfield lightening and refurbishment of the building”, the statement said.

The lawmaker stated that the airport was strategic to the economy of South East and the South-South in view of huge volumes of business transaction in the zone.

He lamented that the entire infrastructures were in dilapidated state, occasioning non-patronage, a situation he said made him to move a motion to that effect on the floor of the House.

“I took note in the motion that Same Mbakwe International Airport is strategic to South East and South South neighbours owing to heavy commercial activities which the Airport was meant to carry”, he noted

He called on his colleagues in the House, particularly the appropriate committees to ensure that contractors handling the airport get back to site as well as constructing a cargo village.
