LAUTECH governing board holds inaugural meeting, pledges restoration of normalcy

The newly constituted governing board of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECh), Ogbomoso has pledged to restore normalcy in the institution.

A former Head of Service of the federation, Professor Oladapo Afolabi who is the chairman of the board made the pledge at the inaugural meeting held on Saturday at the institution’s main campus.

LAUTECH is owned by Oyo and Osun states has been engulfed in crisis over issues bordering on shortage of funds, delay in payment of salaries and other entitlements.

The council DAILY POST reports was inaugurated on July 25th 2017.

Other members of the board are Professor Lai Olurode, Olamide Adedokun, Abiodun Owonikoko, Isiaka Olagoke, Tise Adenipekun, and Bade Adesina.

Afolabi while speaking pledged the readiness of the council to return the once best state university in the country to regain its lost glory.

At an interactive session held with workers’ unions in the university urged them to rededicate themselves to the upliftment of the institution.

He urged them to shun all divisive tendencies that had brought the institution to its present comatose stage.

Afolabi stated that the council had officially appointed Messrs KPMG to carry out the audit of the institution so that academic activities could commence in earnest.

The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi earlier called on the new council to do all within its power to ensure that normalcy returned to the institution.

Oba Oyewumi who received the council members in his palace also expressed confidence in the administrative capability of the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Adeniyi Gbadegesin.

According to Oyewunmi, Gbadegesin is focused and committed to the welfare of workers and wellbeing of the university.
