Following the expiration of Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin’s tenure as the Vice-chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso in February 2019, a professor of Food Chemistry, Prof. Micheal Ologunde, has emerged as a substantive successor.
DAILY POST gathered that Ologunde, who hailed from Osun State, and a former Head of Department of Food Science and Engineering was picked among eleven candidates that applied for the post.
Among those applied for the plump job were: Prof. Timothy Adebayo (Agronomy department), Prof. Idowu Adetunji (Agronomy department), Prof. Ismail Oladosu (Agricultural Economics & Extension), Prof. Femi Fadiora (Anatomy) Prof. Joseph Abayomi among others.
Recall that the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Gbadegesin came to the saddle as a candidate of Oyo State, in line with the rotational arrangement in the institution, being jointly owned by both the governments of Oyo and Osun.
According to a reliable source on the campus, the newly appointed VC remains the first to be appointed within the university, as all his predecessors emerged outside LAUTECH’s academic system.
