It was all tears and pains on Thursday night in Otukpo, the powerhouse of Idoma kingdom, when fire gutted the main market, leading to lose of goods worth several millions of naira.
DALY POST reports that the fire, which started in the evening, was said to have destroyed several shops where baby wears were sold. The affected area is called Lagos line inside the main market.
An eyewitness told our reporter in Otukpo that the fire, which started around 7pm, was on for hours as there was nobody to put it out.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
Residents of the area, who appear helpless, wondered why a local government as big and old as Otukpo has no fire service station.
This is coming barely 8 months after fire gutted same market, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
