Late Colonel’s killers must be fished out to face the law – Buratai vows

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has vowed to arrest the killers of Colonel Samaila Inusa.

Buratai vowed that the killers must be brought to book and made to face the law.

It would be recalled that the late Colonel Inusa, was kidnapped on March 27.

The colonel, who was a chief instructor at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, near Kaduna State, was kidnapped at gunpoint on Refinery Junction in Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State on the said day.

The abductors dropped off Inusa’s wife and left with him in his car, heading towards Abuja.

His body was found on Tuesday at about 6.00pm.

The Army spokesman, Sani Usman, in a statement said preliminary investigation revealed that, most likely, the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors.

“This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State,” Usman had said.

Meanwhile, the deceased was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites at the old Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) burial ground in Kaduna.

Following the abduction and subsequent murder of the Army Colonel, the Chief of Army Staff, represented by the Chief of Administration at the Army Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Ado Abubakar, on Wednesday, said the Army was mourning the slain senior officer, who had served the country meritoriously.

Buratai vowed “in unmistakable terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.”

He described the late officer as a gallant and professional soldier, noting that the Army was not happy the way and manner Inusa was killed.

The Army chief said: “Col. Inusa was a great soldier. We feel the pains. Though death is inevitable and nobody can run away from it.

“I came in to represent my boss, the chief of Army Staff, because the Army is mourning one of us that has served this country greatly and we are not happy the way he died.

“But whatever happens, we shall see to the end of it all.”
