Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Mohammed Ohiare said the late Prince Abubakar Audu confided in him with a high level of commitment that he would effect power rotation when he becomes Kogi governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Addressing Newsmen at the National Assembly on Thursday in Abuja, Ohiare expressed that Prince Audu stood for peace across the three Senatorial District, emphasising that the late politician would always talk about peace wherever he goes.
“Ideally, our late political leader believed and stood for peace, unity and progress of Kogi State and like Jesus Christ, he died in the course of that struggle, and like people would say, what was Abubakar looking for in Lord Lugard House having governed Kogi State for two times”, Ohiare explained.
Ohiare recalled that Audu’s fairness across the three Senatorial District of Kogi State was obvious and when he lost the election in 2003, they were all confused and taken aback because no one could hold Alhaji Ibrahim Idris responsible for non commitment to power shift since there was no agreement with him.
“When Audu lost election in 2003, it pained us because of power shift we agreed with him and no one could hold Ibrahim Idris responsible because there was no agreement to that effect”, he noted.
He added that as the first civilian governor of Kogi State, he laid down political, social and human resources structure for a greater Kogi State, noting that what he left behind would be sustained.
