The Governing Council and management of Lagos State University has announced that academic and administrative activities will resume as from Monday, May 18.
A statement posted on the University’s website, urged all staff and students to go about their normal activities in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. “It is hoped that all outstanding issues will be resolved in due course,” the management said.
The management had closed the institution on Monday, March 23 for the national and state elections.
The school also stated that students and staff are therefore, advised to vacate the campus immediately, stressing that the date of resumption will be announced later.
Meanwhile, university workers are still demanding removal of the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Obafunwa.
A protest in March had called on him to proceed on terminal leave and asked the state government to give the university an acting vice Chancellor.
The demonstration which caused a heavy traffic along the LASU-Ojo-Badagry Expressway, had all unions of the university in attendance.
According to them, LASU management continues to administer the university as if it was a private establishment.
They also lamented that workers were being victimised over legitimate demands.
