LASTMA official escapes being lynched in Lagos

What would have been termed the worst tragedy for a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer was averted this morning as the officer narrowly escaped been lynched by some angry commercial motorcyclists (popularly known as Okada riders) at Mile 2, Lagos.

DailyPost gathered that a group of seven okada riders pursued the uniformed LASTMA officer, attempting to lynch him.

Eyewitness said he was not sure what prompted the okada riders to pursue the officer but noted that the officer was almost knocked down by a vehicle as he hurriedly crossed the expressway to avoid being caught by the angry mobs.

He added that the officer rushed into the nearby Jakande Estate and hid himself.

Men of the Police Force and LASTMA officials have been at loggerheads with okada riders over the enforcement of the new Lagos traffic law which restricts them from plying about 480 major roads in Lagos.
