Federal Capital Territory Minister, Bala Mohammed, yesterday in Abuja stated that the late pioneer National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Solomon Daushep Lar was a legendary politician and an epitome of emancipation, reconciliation and peace.

Mohammed said this while receiving the body of the late elder statesman on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

According to him, Lar fought peacefully for the common man, adding that the first civilian governor of old Plateau state was an inspirational leader who stood for unity and harmony.

“This great man has lived and conquered; he is indeed a role model especially for younger politicians,” Mohammed said.

The president could not attend the ceremony as he is away in France on a state duty.

Present at the airport were Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state, PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and former Information Minister, Professor Jerry Gana, Chairman Solomon Lar Burial Organizing Committee.

There will be an ecumenical service for Lar at the National Christian Centre today. Also, a memorial lecture would be held in his honour at the Ladi Kwali conference hall of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.
