Landlord arrested for killing four-year-old tenant’s child

Sunday Omosule, a landlord, has been arrested for allegedly killing a four-year-old son of his tenant, Mr. Joseph Akpan.

The ugly incident according to a statement by the Ogun State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, happened at No 23, Adeoye Street, Oko Baale Onipanu area of the State.

According to the PPRO, the suspect was arrested following a distress call made to the Onipanu Divisional Police Headquarters that the accused had gone wild by using the pestle to chase his tenants.

Oyeyemi in the statement said the mother of the victim was equally hit with the pestle before the landlord used the same object to hit the boy to death.

When interrogated, the landlord claimed that the reason for his action was nothing but a spiritual attack.

The PPRO, also a Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “On receiving the information, the DPO Onipanu Division Sp Sangobiyi Johnson led his men to the scene where the suspect was arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be under spiritual attacks which always made him behave erratically sometimes.

“The mother of the deceased, who also sustained injury has been taken to the hospital where she is responding to treatment, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the State hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

According to Oyeyemi, the suspect would be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further questioning and investigation on the order of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu.
