Lampard speaks on dealing with player power at Chelsea

New Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has said he wants ‘player power’ at the club during his spell in charge.

In the past, the Stamford Bridge dressing room, was notorious for strong personalities who called the shots even as players.

It is believed that Lampard, John Terry, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba ruled the roost.

Former managers like Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti, used it for their success, while others like Luiz Felipe Scolari and Andre Villas-Boas got on the wrong end.

When asked how he would feel if any of his players were to go to owner, Roman Abramovich with concerns about the coaching, Lampard told reporters: “They won’t. Well, we certainly never did.

“There’s nothing wrong with an open club. The modern club is not the dictator of the manager, who sees everything. We have a lot of people working at the club.

“What I can control, I will and that is driving training every day, being in and around the dressing room — feeling how the players are.

“We had a strong dressing room which was part of the success.

“So I want player power in the dressing room. I think players must have personality.”
