Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has spoken about Tammy Abraham’s omission from the team that lost 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale in a pre-season friendly on Friday.

Abraham travelled with the Blues to Japan and was spotted training with the first team at Mitsuzawa Football Stadium in Yokohama on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Lampard explained why Abraham and Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga were not in the squad.

“The illnesses aren’t related. Tammy Abraham has tonsillitis and Kepa reported a stomach bug this afternoon.

“I’m not a doctor but I think it comes alongside what I mentioned before about flying in, a lot of players aren’t sleeping and are finding it difficult in different ways and it’s come out in those two players,” he said.
