LaLiga: Zidane reveals why Real Madrid won’t give Barcelona ‘a guard of honour’

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has angrily dismissed insinuations that his team will form a guard of honour for Barcelona should they win the LaLiga title before next month’s El Clasico clash.

The two Spanish powerhouses will meet at the Nou Camp on the weekend of May 5, just four matches before the end of the league campaign.

And Real, currently in third, could do Barca a huge title favour this weekend if they beat city rivals Atletico Madrid in second, in the Madrid derby on Sunday night.

That could leave Barca 12 points clear by the end of the weekend, but Zidane is still angry that their rivals didn’t do the same for them in December’s meeting which came a week after Real had won the Club World Cup.

“I don’t understand the guard of honour [Pasillo] and it won’t take place, although we are far from the end of the season.

“Barcelona broke the tradition, they didn’t do it when we won the Club World Cup. It is my decision and that is it,” Zidane said during his Saturday media conference.
