LaLiga Table: Messi sets Barcelona five points clear with win over Girona

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi on Sunday evening scored a goal in his side’s 2-0 victory over Girona in the La Liga encounter.

Goals from Nelson Semedo and Lionel Messi gave Ernesto Valverde’s men all three points against the hosts at the Montilivia Stadium.

The victory over Girona means Barcelona are now five points clear again at the top of La Liga table.

Barcelona restored their hefty advantage over Atletico Madrid, who had cut the gap to two by beating Getafe in the La Liga encounter on Saturday.

Real Madrid will have to beat Espanyol later on Sunday night just to reduce their own deficit to 10 points.
