Atletico Madrid failed to hold on for a win, as they conceded late on to Barcelona, to record a 1-1 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night.
Three points would have taken Diego Simeone’s men above the champions into first place.
They looked on track to achieve that, after Diego Costa’ second-half goal. But Ousmane Dembele struck late, to snatch a point for Barca.
The result means Barcelona stay top with 25 points, one more than Atletico.
In the earlier game of the day, Eibar shocked Real Madrid 3-0 at home.
The defeat was Santiago Solari’s first defeat in charge of the Los Blancos.
