Laliga: Griezmann admits rejecting Barcelona move was a tough decision

Atlético Madrid forward, Antoine Griezmann has admitted rejecting Barcelona offer this summer was a tough decision but insists that he is more comfortable playing for Atletico Madrid.

The French international opted to reject an £87million move to the Camp Nou in June and committed his future to Atletico.

Griezmann’s decision represented a massive u-turn and came after the Europa League holders offered the 27-year-old a massive pay-hike leaving him earn £8.7m a season better off by staying in the capital.

The striker remains adamant that his decision to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano was the right decision.

“It’s like when you get love at home. You’re not going to go anywhere else.” He told French outlet L’Equipe.

“At the club, they’ve done everything to make me feel good, including efforts to sign important players and create a great team.

“I feel like the base, or the most important piece of the puzzle. That’s what made me stay.

“It’s hard to say no to clubs like Barca but, really, I’m fine here. It’s my home and I want to do something great,” Griezmann said.
