Commercial activities in Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub, remained unwavering on Wednesday despite the declaration of strike and protest by the Ayuba Wabba-led faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
The faction had declared indefinite strike to protest the recent increment in the pump price of petrol from N86 to N145.
However, findings by DAILY POST show that workers in the state are not complying the directive by the organized labour.
When our correspondent drove round some parts of the city, commercial activities were going on smoothly with free flow of traffic.
Earlier, there were reports that Ikorodu road was blocked by some protesters, however, checks show that there is free flow of traffic in the region.
Trip to the Murtala Mohammed airport revealed that commercial activities were not grounded as widely reported in the social media earlier.
When our reporter inquired from a staff of one of the commercial airlines he said, “We are operating today. We are not aware of any strike.”
Similarly, commercial banks in the state visited are open to customers.
DAILY POST will continue to monitor the situation in the nation’s former capital and would keep readers updated as events unfold.
