Lagos Speaker hails Ambode, APC on Appeal Court’s victory

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has described the Appeal Court affirmation of the victory of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as a further confirmation of the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates during the election.

While reacting to the Appeal Court verdict, Obasa stated that apart from affirming Ambode’s and APC’s victory at the election, the verdict also gave legal authority to the victory of both the Governor and the party during the polls.

“This is a sweet victory and coming from the Appeal Court, it is a further confirmation of the legality and authenticity of the victory of Mr. Governor and our great party during the election,” the Lagos Assembly. Speaker said.

While congratulating Governor Ambode and the leadership of the APC for the Appeal Court’s victory, Rt. Hon. Obasa stated that the fact that the decision came from the Appeal Court was a clear indication that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje has no justification to challenge the election result because they were beaten fair and square.

“The verdicts of both the Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Court are clear indications that the PDP and its candidate ought not to have challenged the results of the election in the first place because they were beaten fair and square,” Obasa said.

Speaking further, the Lagos Assembly Speaker said, “it is a sweet victory and I want to congratulate Mr. Governor and the entire leadership of the party.”
