A suspected serial killer identified simply as Tayo has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
Tayo, who had reportedly been declared wanted by the police over the crisis that allegedly led to the death of several persons before, during and after the last general elections, was arrested after he came out of his hideout to cause trouble at Apasa area of Ajegunle, Vanguard reports.
Reports say the suspect, alleged to be on the payroll of some politicians and also suspected to be a member of ‘Eiye’ confraternity, is the leader of the dreaded ‘Apasa’ boys in Lagos state.
Confirming his arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Joe Offor, said he will assist the police to make other arrests and anyone found wanting will face the law.
However, it was gathered that several attempts to arrest Tayo, had been unsuccessful, as he allegedly went into hiding after committing various crimes in the Apasa area of the state.
Following his arrest, a resident, one Kayode Isiaka, said, “Tayo was arrested at Apasa junction, unknown to him that the police were out for him.
“But his arrest did not come easy. The first team of policemen that attempted to arrest him could not because he used charms to glue himself to a spot. A reinforcement team succeeded in moving him from the spot,” Isiaka added.
