An acting manager with a Lagos hotel, Ogbu Christopher, was Thursday, arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates Court sitting at Oyingbo, over alleged theft of $7,500 belonging to a guest, who lodged at the hotel.
The accused, 37, a manager with ARC Reception Hotel, located at Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, allegedly committed the said offence on April 10, at about 4pm.
The prosecutor, Inspector Cousin Adams, said the defendant broke into the hotel room, where one of the guests, Peter Ibeano, had lodged and took the said money.
Adams also told the court that the defendant committed the offence when the guest saw off a visitor.
He was arraigned on a three-count charge of burglary, intent to steal and stealing.
The Magistrate, Helen Omisore, granted the defendant N500,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum and ordered that the sureties’ means of livelihood and residential addresses be verified by the court’s prosecutor. She also ordered that the sureties must furnish the court with three years tax payable to Lagos State government.
The matter was adjourned till September 7.
