The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has hailed the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) for endorsing its governorship candidate, Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG).
Prince Adelaja Adeoye, ADP State Publicity Secretary, in a statement on Thursday, said Gbadamosi has demonstrated the passion and competence he would deploy in bringing Lagos out of its present outlook.
ADP said that they are glad that CUPP, which at the national level includes the PDP, has now agreed to work with their party to ensure that Lagos is delivered to the people of the State.
Adeoye said: “What is important at this point is for all the like minds political parties to identify a very competent candidate who is likely not to be the other half of APC coin, and Gbadamosi has been identified for his readiness to govern Lagosians.
“35 political parties under CUPP, which have representatives from Afenifere, Ohanaeze, PANDEF, and Middle Belt came together in addition to the peoples mass movement #OtoGeLagos, and after series of stakeholders engagement, carefully X-rayed both Agbaje and Gbadamosi.
“Gbadamosi was found to be more determined and serious to become governor which landed him their unanimous endorsement and adoption as the consensus governorship candidate.
“ADP has been inundated with false claim by those in Agbaje’s wrecking ship that Gbadamosi was not adopted by CUPP, ADP task them to do a soul searching and tell the public if they are in the contest to win or for business as usual.
“Agbaje camp cannot arrogate themselves to become spokesperson for CUPP, neither they are members of the noble body, the 35 political parties including his own PDP have agreed to follow a candidate who is more determined to lead Lagosians as announced by Mr Gboyega Adeniji, the Secretary General of CUPP at a news conference on Wednesday in Lagos.
“ADP is the party to beat in this election, we, therefore, call on Lagosians to troop out in large numbers to cast their votes for Babatunde Gbadamosi of the ADP, he is the best man for the job,” Adeoye said.
