A Kenyan, Abraham Kiptom, has won the second edition of the Lagos City Marathon for the second consecutive time.
He finished the 42.1km marathon, which kicked-off at the National Stadium, Surulere and terminated at Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island, Lagos, in a record time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, 21 seconds.
Ronny Ronny Kipkoech (Kenya) and Regasa Bejiga (Ethiopia) finished second and third respectively.
Similarly, another Kenyan, Rodah Tanuyi was first to cross the finish line in the female category.
Among Nigerians, Pam Nwanta was the first to finish the race, and was surprisingly rewarded with the sum of N1 million by the sponsors.
Nwanta crossed the finish line before Philip Sharabutu who was the second Nigerian to finish the race. Sharabutu had finished as the first Nigerian maiden edition of the race in 2016.
Over 100,000 athletes from 27 countries including Nigeria competed for the prize money of $370,000.
