Lagos 2019: How we’ll defeat APC – YPP candidate, Ogunsanya

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, in Lagos State, Mrs Adebisi Ogunsanya, has expressed confidence that her party will upset the status quo during the 2019 election.

She stated this on Sunday at a press conference held at the YPP Lagos secretariat.

Speaking on her party’s plan to secure electorates’ support, Ogunsanya said: “The Young Progressives Party are represented in the local government all around the country.

“Together we will take our message to the grassroots. We will defeat the incumbent, as our manifesto commitments will create a better future for all.

“We want to create job opportunities for the youths, improve education, invest in human capital development, build infrastructures that will enable creativity and innovation and to empower communities to build wealth.

“The Young Progressives Party is more than a political party, It is a movement. Decades ago, when we were youths, the economy was good. Today’s youth is faced with high unemployment.

“I am standing for office because I care about the future of this country. We must go back to the foundations and fix the problems of Nigeria, things cannot go on this way.”

On governance, Ogunsanya vowed to run a transparent and open government.

She said: “We’ll ensure open bidding for government contracts. Competitive bidding creates a transparent environment that is open and fair, this is lacking in the current governance.”

When asked about the best way to resolve unemployment, Ogunsanya said that it was alarming that over 4 million Lagosians are unemployed.

“It saddens me that people leave home and don’t know where their next meal is coming from. My administration will build a job employment centre for both the skilled and unskilled, and encourage job seekers to register on its electronic database.

“We will create a life-long learning, to update the skilled and unskilled and assist job seekers. This will also be a safety net for those vulnerable to being left behind by the new technological divide.”

Regarding insecurity, the YPP candidate noted that it’s hard to contain crime because there are no records.

“Any state or country that seeks progress and a safe environment must know its people. An Ogunsanya administration will rollout a community oriented policing, on the streets of Lagos.

“The new policing model will use technology, and that will change how police delivers services to the people of the state.”
