The Labour Party in Rivers State has suspended its flagbearer in the recently conducted Governorship election in the state, Tonye Princewill.
The party at a media briefing in Port Harcourt announced the suspension of Princewill in a communique of an enlarged meeting of the Labour Party leaders.
Chairman of LP in Rivers state, Felix Favour said Tonye Princewill was suspended for engaging in anti-party activities.
Favour noted that their guber flagbearer would have to present himself before a panel constituted to investigate the allegations against him.
He said, “The state Executive council agreed that he has not been carrying the party along. He has never done anything for the party and we have agreed that he has to be suspended for carrying out anti-party activities.
“We are carrying out our investigation and we are going to do our findings. But for now, we are asking the general public not to deal with Tonye Princewill as a member of the Labour Party. He should be dealt with as an individual.
“Any view of Tonye Princewill on the just concluded 2015 election is not the view of the Labour party.
The Party said the suspension of Tonye Princewill was in line with its constitution.
