La Liga: Atletico Madrid end Barcelona’s perfect start

Barcelona’s perfect start to this La Liga campaign ended on Saturday night, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid.

Saul gave the hosts a great start, after he swept home the opening goal in the first half.

Lionel Messi did all he could to muster a way back into the game for the table toppers, hitting the post from a free-kick.

But it was Luis Suarez who levelled for Barcelona in the closing stages, to save them from their first defeat of the season.

Ernesto Valverde’s men remain top with 22 points from eight fixtures, five ahead of Real Madrid who beat Getafe 2-1 earlier in the day.
