Kwara Utd vs Rangers

Ahead of their instant return to topflight football, Kwara United have retained 22 players and fired 17, ahead of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Dele Oguntokun, the secretary of the club, confirmed the decision to axe the players and thanked them for helping the team return to its rightful place.

He explained that it became necessary for the action to be taken, because of ongoing restructuring within the club.

“The technical crew have given us the list of players they want to work with next season,” Oguntokun said.

“We (management) have given them the free hand to operate and take a decision to ensure they are successful at the end of the current season.

“We are determined to do well this season, enhence the need to drop these players and move on.”

Kwara United will begin their domestic campaign, away to Dolphins on March 7 at the Liberation Stadium.
